Absolutes are highly concentrated plant essences usually obtained through the more time consuming process of solvent extraction and often derived from some of the most delicate flowers that yield only a very small amount of oil (Rose, Jasmine etc), which explains the higher cost compared to other essential oils. Absolutes need only be used sparingly.
